NewsLink Sucks Customer Reviews and Feedback

From Everything.Sucks

NewsLink Pty Ltd or LS travel retail Asia Pacific - Lagardère Services Asia Pacific) is an Australian company responsible for providing convenience items and travel products in airports and railway stations in Australia, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, and Fiji.

March 2017 a former employee wrote a review for Indeed, saying that working at NewsLink was awful: Awful place to work. Management is horrible and they are so out of touch with the working journalists and how they handle accounts, travel and staying in cheap motels. If you are an editor or designer this company is fine, you have it easy. Don't work here as a journalist.

Graphic Designer (Current Employee) says

"Clock in at 645am, questioned why by sales department, gather contracts, head up stairs to graphics, email supervisor that I have arrived, check emails for changes, approvals, new contracts and queries.Decipher all emails, sort new contracts between self and co designer. Arrange by priority which publication to work on (time management), argue with sales over written contract information or lack of it. Hardest part is dealing with clients who were told something either to or by sales and I was not informed or we do not offer, end up looking foolish and the company is a scam. Having to smooth things over does not always work. Working in small office separate from sales department is best perk.Hours are flexibleno benefits, bounced pay cheques, not listened to."

CORPORATE JOURNALIST (Former Employee) says

Sales Associate (Current Employee) says

"Manger lacks professionalism when necessary. Manager shares a great sense of bias towards specific ethnic group. Manager fail to communicate effectively with employees. Because of managers favoritism attitude, employees are forced into divisions. Change in management strategies can really benefit the company in cultural, minimizing loss, and increase in revenue.PayCulture, Management"

"The Hr personal doesn’t help much when you need them, they play favoritism. The hours are good, and also they always need you to cover someone else shift! It’s never a guarantee that you will get time off even if you request it months prior!"

Team Member (Former Employee) says

"Was an okay place to work. BUt another case of head office not interested in listening to local staff about what works and what doesn't . Horrible shifts during EDST months - 3am starts. Havng to miss family/friends on weekends to earn enough to pay your bills is never easy.Meeting different people daily. Staff and local management are usually good people.Having to upsell overpriced items people don't want."

sales associate (Current Employee) says

"This is a fast paced job. Sometimes you’re required to do more than what you’re getting paid for. Supervisors can be rude and unprofessional. Managers don’t want complains and don’t actually solve an issueThe co workersSupervisor & managers"

Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee) says

"Newslink is a good place to work at, there will be a lot of pressure and must work at a fast pace, some supervisions aren’t too nice but they get the job done. This job is meant for people with though skin"

Paper deliverer (Former Employee) says

"It's a fun place to work in but it's also slightly challenging especially in winter with the cold conditions. Overall, it's a good experience and has helped me become a more disciplined person.Fitness benefitsEarly hours"

Newsstand Associate (Former Employee) says

"It is a normal work but with a low salaries. Good benefits and ways to upgrade at the same time. You can learn how to treat customers and make them feel comfortable."

BOOK SPECIALIST (Former Employee) says

"Everything was ok. Fast-paced environment. Multitasking is serious in this company which is great, you get to do so many things such as merchandise organizer to shelves books.great pay"

Current Employee - Sales Associate says

"If you’re not a family member of the employees, you will not be treated equally. There is a lot of nepotism that goes on in this company, there is very little diversity. The majority of the people that are hired here are from the same country and if you are not of their descent then they will treat you like an outsider. Some have also made racist comments towards people of darker color. They will also make fun of your countries accent, it is something that has been reported and although many of the employees stopped there are still a few that mock the accents of other employees. They get angry that I do not know how to speak Spanish or know the language well. On top of that the majority of the employees here DO NOT speak English, it makes it difficult to work with people who you can’t communicate with. The majority of the supervisors do not speak good English, every time there is a customer that needs help and every time a customer approaches a supervisor, the supervisor will point the customers towards me or other English speaking cashiers because they cannot help the customers themselves due to their lack of English. We have lost customers because of this, there are times when the supervisors have no one to turn to and cannot communicate with the customer, therefor leading the customers to get frustrated and leave the store. There is also a lot of harassment, the men like to cat call on all the girls in this company, GROWN MEN that work here do not know how to respect women, they make comments to them on their bodies, they make sexual comments about female passengers as they shop around the store. We also have a transgender at our company that the men like to pick on, they make fun of her behind her back and they make inappropriate sexual comments towards her in person and it is beyond disrespectful. There is also no opportunity for growth in this company like we were promised. Instead of promoting fellow employees who have been here a long time and know everything about the company and its tasks, the manager will only hire friends and family of the supervisors, people who he has never met, he’s never seen their work ethic and if you try to speak up about unfairness that happens at work he will shut you down and he won’t believe you because the family of employees will make YOU look bad. [Nepotism]"

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Poor management. I have never seen a company with such poor culture and management. If you intend on working for that company, save what little humanity you have left inside of you."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Management and Supervision is pure crap"

Management says

"They make you feel as if you can have a career, they will even promote you then fire you. No matter how much you have done for the company they don't care, they take back your insurance benefits as of date of termination they have no mercy! They are horrible, they write you up for anything, they don't care about their employees. You follow their protocol then they say it's not the right thing to do. They are douchebags!"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"really bad general manager, they should change it..."

Current Employee - Sales Associate says

"Although, the president if the company is a good person, management struggles to get a good environment. Salaries recently raised, but no place for promotion or professional growth."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"The list of cons in this company is many ranging from favoritism to lack of technically. There is lack of organization and the people that know what they are doing are being held back from upper management. HR is disorganized and none existing now. Even if the person follows the policy and request a day off and it was approved they will still consider it as a unexcused absence and will try to write you up later on down the road."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Organization. Operations is only reactive; they don’t anticipate problems, they poorly resolve them. Inflexible, they see things the way they‘ve always done it and that’s the way to do it. They don’t appreciate innovative ways to do things or resolve problems. System’s information is not accurate. Poor Human Resource Management."

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee says

"Standing for long hours and management style."

Former Employee - Sales Supervisor says
