March 2017 a former employee wrote a review for Indeed, saying that working at NewsLink was awful: Awful place to work. Management is horrible and they are so out of touch with the working journalists and how they handle accounts, travel and staying in cheap motels. If you are an editor or designer this company is fine, you have it easy. Don't work here as a journalist.

"Clock in at 645am, questioned why by sales department, gather contracts, head up stairs to graphics, email supervisor that I have arrived, check emails for changes, approvals, new contracts and queries.Decipher all emails, sort new contracts between self and co designer. Arrange by priority which publication to work on (time management), argue with sales over written contract information or lack of it. Hardest part is dealing with clients who were told something either to or by sales and I was not informed or we do not offer, end up looking foolish and the company is a scam. Having to smooth things over does not always work. Working in small office separate from sales department is best perk.Hours are flexibleno benefits, bounced pay cheques, not listened to."

"If you’re not a family member of the employees, you will not be treated equally. There is a lot of nepotism that goes on in this company, there is very little diversity. The majority of the people that are hired here are from the same country and if you are not of their descent then they will treat you like an outsider. Some have also made racist comments towards people of darker color. They will also make fun of your countries accent, it is something that has been reported and although many of the employees stopped there are still a few that mock the accents of other employees. They get angry that I do not know how to speak Spanish or know the language well. On top of that the majority of the employees here DO NOT speak English, it makes it difficult to work with people who you can’t communicate with. The majority of the supervisors do not speak good English, every time there is a customer that needs help and every time a customer approaches a supervisor, the supervisor will point the customers towards me or other English speaking cashiers because they cannot help the customers themselves due to their lack of English. We have lost customers because of this, there are times when the supervisors have no one to turn to and cannot communicate with the customer, therefor leading the customers to get frustrated and leave the store. There is also a lot of harassment, the men like to cat call on all the girls in this company, GROWN MEN that work here do not know how to respect women, they make comments to them on their bodies, they make sexual comments about female passengers as they shop around the store. We also have a transgender at our company that the men like to pick on, they make fun of her behind her back and they make inappropriate sexual comments towards her in person and it is beyond disrespectful. There is also no opportunity for growth in this company like we were promised. Instead of promoting fellow employees who have been here a long time and know everything about the company and its tasks, the manager will only hire friends and family of the supervisors, people who he has never met, he’s never seen their work ethic and if you try to speak up about unfairness that happens at work he will shut you down and he won’t believe you because the family of employees will make YOU look bad. [Nepotism]"

"The list of cons in this company is many ranging from favoritism to lack of technically. There is lack of organization and the people that know what they are doing are being held back from upper management. HR is disorganized and none existing now. Even if the person follows the policy and request a day off and it was approved they will still consider it as a unexcused absence and will try to write you up later on down the road."
